Working with a partner...

1.The benefits of working with a classmate.
2. Challenges / obstacles which you overcame (tried to overcome).
3. New understandings that you gained about the novel.

Working with a partner leads to two great things. Working more well and can lead to better friendships or new ones.
One challenge was, we both wanted to choose the same passage. We had to work out who would write what passage.
I thought that Jacob was a complete goner when he went to Kenya. Later I realized how skilled he actually is.

Lit circle things

Because of literacy circles I was able to see things from a different point of view. We all had to write about two important passages, questions, connections and vocabulary. We talked about how Jacobs bike was stolen, what happened when he was out in the bush. Jacob confronted a lion, he was shaking, he was still yet he managed to scared it away.

One connection I made was being beat up for a smart card (buy you food) in my old school. Jacob was beat up for money, utensils, a bike and clothes. That was the only connection I had but I had reactions. This was one I didn't right but here it goes. I was amazed when Jacob met a lion. I had thoughts running through my mind. Will he run? Will he get hurt? and many many more things. He managed to scare the lion away by launching his bike tire.

I think that Jacob will find his father safely but they will have HUGE troubles along the way home, his father may be dead already, if the long rains don't come then they might die. Poachers will probably chase them or something. Will someone be there to help? Will Jacob use his skills that he learned along the way to survive? Will Jacob be home before his visa expires? If his visa expires what would happen and what would happen if they get captured?

I took this photo from my web-cam as I had no other time to take or find a photo. This is a alarm clock (if you aren't very smart this means it gives you alarms at certain times, it could wake you up, tell you you need to go party somewhere etc). It has one line of symmetry which goes through the middle of the clock.

Mudd skippers Piont of veiw on the Kuala Selangor trip

One day I was skipping along a muddy path which led me towards a mangrove forest. Belive there were TONS of people there trying to plant trees, yet most of them sank in the mud till their knees. Anyways i went a little closer to the HUGE people and suddenly some one that goes by the name Owenski picked me up and I lay still. He was so proud of himself that he showed me to a random blond guy that goes by the name Pasha. He said my name should be TOMMY!!! Who on earth would name such a lonely fish that skipps on water Tommy, my real name is Arshavin!. I lay there thinking they were going to eat me! They were laughing their heads off, soon enough they showed me to a strange bald guy that goes with the name.... let me think... SHEFLIN ohh yes Mr.Sheflin. Well I dont remember him any of that stuff so the blond dude Pasha says let the fish down now. By that time I was already falling asleep, they let me go and said goodbye Tommy! I skipped away thinking crabs are going to eat me or someone else is going to pick me up. That was almost the end of the day for me, I had some other boring things that I forgot as well so as you can see I have a bad memory. So thank you for wasting your time listening to my time, I going out to have some fun.

A Time Where I Showed Courage

There haven't been to many times I have showed courage but I will tell you one. The day this happened was quite funny, when I lived in India me and all of my friends slept-over a lot because there was nothing to do. So one day we decided to go outside and play a little bit of soccer, in the middle of the game and someone kicked the ball into the basements (We lived in apartments and there were two basements). All of us were tired and no one wanted to get the ball becuase of stray dogs, one of my friends agree and he goes down to the basement to retrieve the ball, in two minutes he came running back without the ball and a dog was chasing him! We ran into the main enterance which luckily had gaurds inside, everybody was crazy scared and bored. In a few seconds I said that I will go and retrieve the soccer ball. I walked slowly and carefully so that the dog won't see me, unfortunly some dog saw me and chased me down to the basements. This time it was a different dog and luck struck me like lighting, the dog was a little bit injured. It  ran a little bit slower than me. As I saw the slope leading deeper I knew that I was going towards the second basement. At that point I looked up and saw all of my friends screaming "RUN FASTER DUDE" (We always used the term dude for some reason). I saw the ball now but knew I was not allowed to slow down, I was sweating mad and my tummy started to hurt. Finally I needed to bend over while running to get the ball off the ground, from that point on every thing was twice as bad. I don't even want to describe it, all I can say is that we started to play soccer again.

What do the artifacts tell us about the lives of early humans?

What do the artifacts tell us about the lives of early humans?

They tell us how long they lived, when they lived and how they looked like, not only that but even what they ate and even how they hunted. They left behind spear thrower's and rocks. They used rocks to grind things to make colors and later to draw on the cave walls.

Some artifacts were found in pits, they were mostly burnt animal bones which makes one thing very clear, they used fire and mastered it. It probably started by a lighting bolt hitting dried things that were flammable. With fire they learned how to cook raw meat, with this ability the early humans became upright like us.
Fun Fact: If you take all of the fossils from early humans found today it would only fit in a pick up truck!

Social Scientists

Pompeii
If I had to choose from three jobs (Archaeologist, Geographer or Historian), I would pick Archaeologist because I think that it would be interesting to dig things up that no one has seen or used for maybe over 20,000 years. I am interested in the past of the planet we live on because there are still a lot of things that we can learn about the prehistoric age. I would love to dig up some vases, coins, bones, clothing, etc. Archaeologists dig things up to study the past and to help Historians study the history of the planet and its living beings. Not only do they dig things up, but they search for old cities and towns. They study how the people lived in these ancient places, why they left and maybe why they died there.

Introduction

My name is Pavel  Andreev. People usually call me Pasha because its the shorter version in Russian.  Many people are amazed at where I come from because I am basically the only one from Russia in school.

I like to watch hockey and basketball, strangely enough though I don't like to play hockey. Yeah so I  like to play soccer and basketball, I love swimming as well. I don't have a favorite book because there are to many books, but my favorites are "Fortress by the Sea", "Indian in the Cupboard", "Street Child" and "The Three Musketeers". I like video games like Tony Hawk's Project Eight. I love my family and my country but of course almost everyone loves these.

I would like to share a couple of adjectives about myself: I am optimistic  because whenever there is something bad going on in the classroom I always find the bright side of it. I am funny because I always make jokes out of things. I am hard working because I give my best shot at everything I trie it just doesn't look like it.

I have a very simple goal for the year, try hard and get far! I hope that every student has a great year cause I know i will! =)
